Hooters’ takes a chance on Vegas
Hooters, whose trademark is spicy chicken wings served by busty waitresses, opened its first casino and hotel just off the Las Vegas Strip.
The so called “delightfully tacky, yet unrefined” chain opened the first of its international outlets in Clearwater, Fla., in 1983.
The Vegas property is a 696-room hotel with nine restaurants/bars. It’s a makeover of the old Hotel San Remo.
Owners say the Hooters’ will draw from a customer base of about 61 million annual visitors at the chain’s 400 restaurants in the US, Canada, Europe, South America, Asia and the Caribbean.
Hooters main audience is usually viewed as mostly married men aged 25 to 54.
It’s sometimes not recognized but Hooter’s also has its own airline, based in Atlanta.
