The timing and venue for Melbourne ’s 2007 Travel Expo has been changed to avoid the congestion associated with the Formula One Grand Prix and the FINA World Swimming Championships, both being held in Melbourne in mid-March.

Gary Fitz-Roy, CEO of Expertise Events, organiser of the show, said, “The 2007 Melbourne Travel Expo will be held at the Royal Exhibition Building, Carlton on the weekend of Saturday, April 14 and Sunday, April 15,”

He added, “It is inevitable that major international events such as the Grand Prix and Swimming Championships will have a massive impact on the city affecting airports, air travel, accommodation, restaurants and commuter services”.

“Part of being a professional exhibition organiser is being aware of aspects that could impact on an event and to make changes to ensure the best result for exhibitors and visitors. A survey conducted among exhibitors who have already booked for the Melbourne event, originally to be held in March, supported this decision. “
