Hot spot: The Cayman Islands
The Cayman Islands, which involve just three islands 480 miles south of Miami, are hot tourist spots these days.
Air arrivals are up this year by 13.4%, while cruise visitors are up 14.4, according to statistics from the Department of Tourism.
Most of those visitors are from the US, but Canada and Europe are also strong markets on the upswing, tourism officials said. They attributed the rise in part to new air routes and to the growing recognition that the islands have some of the best diving and snorkeling in the world.
