Hotel faces lawsuit in teen’s freezer death
The family of teen Kenneka Jenkins, who was found dead inside a hotel’s walk-in freezer, have filed a lawsuit seeking $50 million in damages.
The family claims the Crowne Plaza Hotel Chicago O’Hare was negligent in her death.
Jenkins, 19, left a late night party in the hotel and was captured on CCTV wandering the hotel.
She was last seen on footage in a closed restaurant kitchen.
The lawsuit alleges the hotel failed to monitor the security cameras, ‘which would have saved her life’.
It also called out hotel security for not halting the party.
It says multiple hotel personnel failed to intervene as she wandered the hotel ‘visibly disoriented and in dire need of assistance’.
He death was ruled an accident caused by hypothermia.
She was eventually found locked inside the freezer nearly 24 hours later.
Since the incident happened a year ago it has remained in the news with accusations from the family and various media of foul play.
