Hotel Okura to open in Manila’s Resorts World resort
Japan based Hotel Okura Co has confirmed plans to open its first luxury hotel in the Philippines.
The 191-room Okura Hotel will open at Manila’s Resorts World integrated casino resort next autumn.
An agreement was sealed with Travellers International Hotel Group Inc for the hotel spanning 11 storeys.
Okura said it will double its Philippines portfolio by 2020 with a second 380 room hotel as part of the Bayshore City Resorts World development.
"As Hotel Okura’s first hotel to open in the Philippines, we will leverage the group’s expertise in traditional Japanese hospitality to make Hotel Okura Manila a much-beloved hotel," said Toshihiro Ogita, president of Hotel Okura Co.
"For the past five years, the Philippines has experienced high economic growth surpassing 6% per annum, and its tourism market is expected to achieve mid- to long-term growth."
Both hotels add to Okura’s goal to expand its portfolio to 100 properties, mostly in Asia.
The company operates three brands – Okura Hotels & Resorts, Nikko Hotels International and Hotel JAL City.
Other hotels in the pipeline are located in Yangon, Myanmar, Phnom Penh in Cambodia and Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong in Vietnam.
