Hotel owner arrested over fatal shooting of homeless man
A Venice Beach hotel owner has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a homeless man outside the hotel.
Police have yet to release the name of the suspect however Los Angeles news media report 54-year-old Sris Sinnathamby, owner of the historic Hotel Cadillac is being remanded on bail.
The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday, apparently stemming from an altercation between homeless men and hotel staff after being asked not to sleep in front of the hotel.
Another man was shot but not seriously wounded.
"The situation ‘escalated into a violent encounter with someone brandishing a handgun and committing this deadly crime," said LAPD Sgt. Barry Montgomery.
Witnesses told CBS News LA that Sinnathamby was not the shooter but directed another, so far unidentified man to pull the trigger.
The murder victim was named as Jascent Jamal Lee Warren, 26.
