Hotel’s tequila expert goes beyond simple concierge
The CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort and Spa has a somewhat unusual new position believed not to be found anywhere else: a Tequila Experto (expert).
“We’re at the epicenter of tequila culture, and we’re one of the very few resorts in the world that actually grows our own agave azul from which we produce our own propriety tequila,†said General Manager Dennis Whitelaw of the spa in Puerto Vallarta in the home state of Jalisco.
The expert is certified by the Tequila Regulatory Council of Mexico (TRC).
The expert conducts tasting classes to increase guest awareness of the new found popularity of tequila.
More than 117 different “by the glass†tequila options are maintained in the resort’s Tequila Vault for use in all the resort’s food and beverage outlets.
“CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort and Spa is the first Puerto Vallarta resort to receive the ‘Agave de Oro’ (Golden Agave), the highest level of the “T Award” from the TRC for each one of the resort’s food and beverage outlets,†according to resort officials.
The resort’s Tequila Expert serves as an ambassador for Mexican customs, culture and traditions, as well as an authority on the highly sophisticated wide variety of tequilas.
The resort’s Tequila Reposado package starts at $263 nightly and includes deluxe accommodations in an ocean view room for two, complimentary breakfast buffet for two at the resort’s La Estancia restaurant, tasting of three of the resort’s tequilas with a Tequila Expert and a 750 ml complimentary bottle of tequila to take home.
