HotelPlanner acquires Australian venue platform EventConnect
Group hotel booking platform HotelPlanner has revealed it has acquired Australia-based online venue marketplace EventConnect.com.
EventConnect offers a marketplace for Asia Pacific based hotels, venues and event suppliers to showcase their products while promoting their latest news and offers.
Financial terms of the deal are undisclosed but purchase price is in the seven figures, HotelPlanner said.
EventConnect will continue to operate as normal while it continues to expand into new markets.
"Our acquisition of EventConnect.com helps further our position as a leader in the global group bookings space and accelerates the company’s growth, particularly in the Oceana and APAC region," said HotelPlanner CEO and founder Tim Hentschel.
The acquisition marks another significant step for HotelPlanner’s Asia Pacific footprint.
It has opened a Singapore office and launched sites Hotelplanner.sg, Hotelplanner.com.sg, and Meetings.com.sg.
It now has a presence in London, Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Singapore, Melbourne, West Palm Beach, FL and Las Vegas, Nevada.
"It is very exciting to be joining the HotelPlanner family. The strength and reach that comes with joining a global leader will be invaluable in supporting our growth plans," said Steve Coombes, founder of EventConnect.com.
