Hotels in Helsinki taking turns winning awards
Hotels in the Finnish capital have been taking turns winning awards and praise by international media, with Hotel Kämp named Europe’s best hotel in 2006 by American business travel magazine Global Traveller and late last year the property also made both Conde Nast Traveler’s Gold Lost and Travel + Leisure’s Top 500 Best Hotels in the world for the third consecutive year.
Hotel Kämp’s hotel bar even made the forbes.com elite list of the world’s Best Hotel Bars and furthermore, the accolades of its guests earned the property the starwood Hotels & Resorts Luxury Collection Hotel of the Year award.
The new luxury hotel Klaus K has also been highlighted in international media with UK’s Conde Nast Traveller listing the hotel as one of the 60 best new hotels in the world in 2006 and Klaus K was also named the winner of the world Hotel Award 2006 in the category of New Hotel 2006.
A new luxury hotel, GLO Hotel, opened last month in Helsinki. part of the palace Kämp Group, which own Hotel Kämp, the new hotel boasting 144 rooms with 30 different room types. Each room is uniquely different in layout, size and décor offering a unique accommodation experience for each of their guests.
Expect GLo Hotel to make the various Hot lists of 2007 later in the year!
The 52nd edition of the Eurovision song Contest is also being staged at the Hartwall Areena, Helsinki’s main entertainment arena, and the 2007 theme is ‘True Fantasy’.
The semi final will take place Thursday 10 May and be broadcast on Australian television Friday 11 May. The final will take place Saturday 12 May and be broadcast on Australian television Sunday 13 May.
