Hotels sign for Amadeus Best Available Rate
Thirty-seven hotel brands have signed up to Amadeus’s Best Available Rate programme.
Hotels guarantee to supply the GDS with rates that are the same or lower than those available through other distribution systems, branded websites or their own call centre.
Amadeus also claims to offer more flexible cancellation policies than bookings made through hotel websites, online travel agencies or hotel wholesalers.
More than 75% of available rooms can be cancelled up to 24 hours in advance without incurring a charge. This compares with 52% for hotel websites, 40% for online travel agencies and just 20% for online wholesalers, according to the GDS.
Amadeus Hospitality Business Group managing director Antoine Medawar said: “Hotels are regaining control over their rates after the dark days of 2002 when they were forced to get rid of distressed inventory at rock-bottom prices.
“Since then, demand has returned and increasingly advanced revenue management technology has given hotels the leverage to direct their bookings through the higher-yield travel agency channel.”
Hotel groups and representation companies signed up to the programme are: Abba Hotels, AC Hotels, ACC Nifos, Accor, Atel Hotels, Carlson, Ceasar Park hotels, Chateaux and Hotels de France, Columbus, Country Inn, Fiesta Americana, Golden Tulip, Graves Hotels, Hilton International, Hotusa, Hyatt, Kempinski Hotels, Keytel, Mandarin, Maritim Hotels, Movenpick, Oberoi, Otedis, Park Plaza, Park Inn, Quality Reservations, Radisson, Regent Hotels, Red Lion Hotels, Romantik Hotels, Small Luxury Hotels, Scandic Hotels, Stamford, Steigenberger, Supranational, Westcoast Hotels and Worldhotels.
