Housekeeper wanted over £350,000 hotel theft
A London hotel housekeeper is now a fugitive after becoming the prime suspect in a major hotel theft.
Marinela Manolesu is wanted by the Metropolitan Police after a suitcase with around £350,000 worth of jewellery was stolen.
Police say she travelled to Romania about a week after the hotel theft.
The 28-year-old was working as a housekeeper in the Knightsbridge hotel which hasn’t been formally named.
“Our enquiries to date suggest she left the UK and travelled to Romania,” a Scotland Yard spokesperson said.
Police further said they believe it was an opportunistic theft rather than a targeted one.
“The victim of this theft has been left devastated by the loss of many valuable personal possessions and we are keen to achieve justice,” said Police Constable Beth Hiles.
