Houston getting first charter flights to Cuba
Miami based charter airline HavanaAir will start weekly direct flights from Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport to Havana beginning next month.
HavanAir will deploy Eastern Air Lines’ Boeing 737-800 aircraft for the Wednesday weekly flights.
The Houston Airport System said it is still working out the fine details on the service and will announce the date of the inaugural flight soon.
"We are very pleased to open the Houston to Cuba market with our valued partner, Eastern Air Lines. Our partnership with Eastern has proven to provide an entirely new level of service to Cuba with their Next Generation Boeing aircraft, said Mark Elias, President and COO of HavanaAir Charters.
HavanaAir also operates twice daily flights to Havana from Miami and a weekly service to Camaguey and Santa Clara, many of which are supported by partner Eastern Air Lines, which was recently relaunched as a charter airline in Miami.
