Hundreds of Amsterdam flights cancelled due to heavy storm
An unseasonal storm lashed the Netherlands, causing hundreds of Amsterdam flight cancellations at Schipol Airport.
Winds from Storm Poly of 90 mph were recorded in the north of the country.
Dutch railways suspended all trains in the north .
Amsterdam, The Hague and Haarlem were especially hard hit by the winds and heavy rain.
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport said it expected no more than ‘very limited air traffic’ by the afternoon.
Around 300 Amsterdam flights have been cancelled so far.
Local media reported one person was killed by a falling tree.
Residents of the Noord-Holland province, which includes Amsterdam, were sent red alert notifications advising them to stay indoors.
