Hurricane coaster won’t remain at sea
Rumors that Seaside Heights, New Jersey Mayor Bill Akers suggested that the skeletal remains of a huge roller coaster should remain in the water as a tourist site have been greatly exaggerated, the Mayor says.
Akers told WINS news on Monday that his comments about the coaster being a tourist site were taken out of context and that what he meant was that it would have to be removed and that until that time, tourists are clamoring to look at it. He told the radio news service that the town and owners of the Casino Pier are deciding how to dismantle and remove the remains and that there was no time line set on the process at this time.
Mayor Akers also repeated his goal of having the Seaside Heights boardwalk built back intact by May.
