Hurricane Matthew prompts Orlando theme park closures

Tuesday, 06 Oct, 2016 0
Orlando’s big theme park operators continue to track Hurricane Matthew’s path but some are taking no chances, announcing closures.

SeaWorld announced it will close early on Thursday and remain shuttered on Friday, while Aquatica Water Park and Discovery Cove will stay closed both days.

LEGOLAND Florida will not operate Friday and may even close early on Thursday depending on the progress of the Hurricane, Fox 35 Orlando reports.

Universal and Disney are still weighing up their options and have announced no closures or reduced hours of operation yet.

However Disney has ordered the evacuation of Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

A spokesman told WESH 2 News Disney expects all guests to check out by 11.00am Thursday.

Many are in RVs and tents, Disney says.

The Orlando Eye said it will close Thursday and Friday and will not reopen ‘until it is safe to do so.’
