Hurtigruten creates new online agent training
Norwegian niche cruise line Hurtigruten has produced a new online training programme for agents.
Four sections include a range of different modules designed to provide a practical guide to the company.
Sales and marketing director Kathryn Beadle said 175 agents had completed the course in just three days of it being introduced last week.
"There is a bit of a disconnect in the market in explaining what sort of customer our cruises appeal to so we are giving agents a profile of our customers as part of the training," she said.
The training is broken down into subject areas such as the Hurtgruten product, MICE, how to market to groups and targeting passengers.
The move follows the company introducing online booking for the trade (see earlier TravelMole story).
The latest initiative comes as the company prepares to issue its Explorer brochure next month and host agent winners of a competition to attend semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo in two weeks time.
Beadle is also confident a new ITV reality show to be screened in September called 71 Degrees North – filmed in Norway – will help raise the profile of the destination.
