Hurtigruten launching first electric high-power tender boats
Maritime electric motor manufacturer Evoy has teamed up with Hurtigruten to electrify the first ‘ship to shore’ expedition cruise tender boats.
The tenders, custom-built for Hurtigruten’s expedition cruises, are the first of its kind to deliver excursions in some of the most remote locations.
The new tender boats are designed for excursions from expedition ships globally and in Arctic and Antarctic waters.
The electric tenders can carry up to 20 guests, along with scientific and safety-related equipment.
It was announced as part of their 2022 annual Environmental Social and Governance Report.
“We are very proud to be the first to offer this ground-breaking technology enabling silent and emission-free excursions,” said Iain McNeill, Hurtigruten’s SVP Operations.
Hurtigruten Expeditions will introduce the first electric tender boats on expedition cruises with MS Otto Sverdrup along the Norwegian coast this season.
