Hyatt adding 200 hotels across the Americas by 2022
Hyatt Hotels Corp is planning a big expansion across the Americas with up to 200 new properties slated to open by 2020.
Revealing the numbers at the recent Americas Lodging Investment Summit, it expects to open more than 50 full service and select service hotels this year.
Additionally, it has a pipeline of at least 140 hotels due to open by 2022.
It currently has 585 Hyatt hotels open in the region.
The Americas region remains a major focus for growth, and sees strong demand for more locations in regional markets including California, Texas, New York, Canada and Mexico.
"Hyatt’s Americas growth through 2022 further signals incredible strength in our brand among owners, customers, and guests across our largest region," it said.
Its newest acquired brands – Alila, Destination Hotels, Joie de Vivre, and Thompson Hotels – are experiencing strong growth.
The Alila hotel in Encinitas, California will become the first new build for the brand in the Americas when it opens in early 2021.
Hyatt recently launched the 225-room Thompson Washington D.C earlier this month.
New Joie de Vivre and Destination Hotels properties open this year in California and Virginia respectively.
More than 100 Hyatt Place and Hyatt House select service hotels are scheduled to open across North and South America through 2022.
These include 20 new locations in Canada.
