Hyatt to ditch on-demand blue movies

Hyatt Hotel Corp is to pull porn from its in-room entertainment menu worldwide.

The group has begun phasing out adult content as contracts expire with each of the companies that provide Hyatt’s in-room entertainment across its 540-plus hotels in 78 countries. Adult films will be removed entirely by July 2016.

Hotels have witnessed a significant drop in revenue from in-room entertainment as guests use their own smartphones or laptops instead .

An additional factor is the fear among guests that credit-card hackers will expose their information to show what they have watched.

Another reason for the decrease is that more women are travelling on business.

The LA Times quotes Bjorn Hanson, dean of New York University’s Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism and Sports Management saying: "The revenue from all in-room entertainment has been decreasing and the percent from adult entertainment has been decreasing even more."

Marriott International and Hilton Worldwide have already started to pull adult entertainment from their guest rooms.
