IATA terminates AirFastTickets agreements in UK
Airline association IATA has terminated online travel agency AirFastTickets’ passengers sales agency agreements in the UK and Germany.
IATA claims the US-based company owes airlines over €45 million in late payments. It placed the company into default last month and terminated its agreements this week after failing to agree a repayment schedule with the group.
"Following the default of the Air Fast Tickets group of Agents in the UK, Germany and Greece, IATA can confirm that in subsequent discussions no agreement for a repayment schedule was reached with Air Fast Tickets," said the airline association.
"Consequently, in accordance with applicable Resolutions, IATA has terminated Air Fast Tickets’ Passenger Sales Agency Agreements in the UK and Germany, which precludes their participation in the BSPs (Billing and Settlement Plans) of these countries.
"Air Fast Tickets remains in default in Greece."
However, AirFastTickets said it was confident an agreement could still be made with airlines over the money IATA says it owes. It said: "Whilst the proposal from AirFastTickets has currently not been accepted, we are continuing to move forward and are confident that a mutually beneficial agreement will be reached shortly.
"Our position remains the same – that we are willing to settle this with either IATA or the airlines, and believe we will do so in due course."
