Iberia adds more Tokyo flights for cherry blossom season

Wednesday, 12 Nov, 2025 0

Iberia will add an extra flight between Madrid and Tokyo during March and April, coinciding with the sakura cherry blossom season.

This additional flight will be available from March 4 to April 29, departing Madrid on Wednesdays and returning from Tokyo on Thursdays.

Currently, Iberia operates three weekly frequencies between Madrid and Tokyo.

The new frequency represents an increase of more than 6,000 seats between Spain and Japan.

In total, in 2026, Iberia will offer over 114,000 seats on the route, which it says contributes nearly €100 million to the GDP of Spain and Japan and generates around 1,900 direct and indirect jobs.

This route between the two capitals is operated on Airbus A350 aircraft, with capacity for 348 passengers in Business, Premium Economy, and Economy cabins.

In addition, the Spanish flag carrier has adapted the onboard experience for Japanese travellers, including menus in Japanese, entertainment in their language, and details such as green tea, rice, and chopsticks.
