IHG Hotels & Resorts reaching one million rooms worldwide
IHG Hotels & Resorts celebrated earlier this month a historic milestone. For the first time in its history, the hospitality group surpassed one million open rooms worldwide, proving the group’s dynamic on a global scale.
The achievement reflects steady demand for travel and the company’s aggressive growth strategy. IHG has doubled its brand portfolio to 20 in the past decade. It boosted its footprint by adding hundreds of properties each year. This translates into a presence in over 100 countries.

IHG estimates that its loyalty program, IHG One Rewards, and its technology platform played a central role in this achievement. They helped attracting millions of travelers and supporting thousands of hotel owners.
Today, IHG operates more than 6,700 hotels, hosting over a million guests daily. The company sees the milestone not only as a business achievement. IHG is intimately linked to its customers through all events taking place inside its hotels. It goes from family reunions, weddings to business deals or even diplomatic gatherings.
“Reaching one million rooms reflects the deep trust and confidence our guests, owners and investors place in IHG and our brands,” said Elie Maalouf, CEO of IHG Hotels & Resorts. “But more than that, it’s a celebration of our colleagues, who help millions of guests live their best lives every single day. And helping make memories in life’s big events.”
2025 to continue IHG success with new openings
IHG’s growth momentum continues in 2025. The company opened a record number of rooms in the first half of the year and registered record levels of signings across the world. They are currently more than 2,200 hotels in the pipeline.
At the same time, it is celebrating several milestones: its 4,000th hotel in the United States, its 800th property in Greater China as it marked 50 years in the region.
With its blend of heritage brands and fast-growing newcomers, IHG sees enormous potential in high-growth markets worldwide.
