InterContinental Hotels Group plans to open its largest Crowne Plaza hotel in Thailand next year.

It inked an agreement with Sukhumvit Centre Point to take over the Grand Sukhumvit Bangkok.

It will open in late-2021 after an extensive refurbishment.

IHG also plans to add more guest rooms.

The hotel will have two dining venues, a swimming pool, fitness room and spa, an Executive Club Lounge, meeting rooms and a ballroom.

"We are confident it is the right brand for this prime central location. This is our first time working with the IHG team and we look forward to a successful and long-term partnership," said Pornphrom Phromvanich, Managing Director, Sukhumvit Centre Point.

IHG has 31 hotels open in Thailand under seven brands.

It has a further 29 hotels in the development pipeline including brand debuts for Kimpton and voco.

"The strength and breadth of IHG’s brand portfolio has led to some exciting growth and conversion opportunities here in Thailand and across South East Asia," said Serena Lim, IHG Vice President of Development, South East Asia & Korea.
