IHG to push direct sell

Saturday, 20 Sep, 2004 0

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is launching a campaign to boost direct online bookings and promote its pledge to offer the lowest rates for its hotels.

IHG, which includes brands such as InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Express by Holiday Inn, says it will guarantee the best online rates for its rooms.

The guarantee means that customers who can find a lower price for the same room elsewhere on the internet will get that rate plus a 10% discount.

The group is hoping to direct business and leisure customers to www.icHotelsGroup.co.uk, to book any of its brands. It will promote the site through online campaigns featuring the slogan: “wherever you see our hotels, you won’t see them cheaper than at www.icHotelsGroup.co.uk”.

In recent weeks IHG announced its intention to stop distributing rooms through Expedia and Hotels.com and stick with Travelocity because it adhered to the strict new guidelines for online distribution partners.

According to IHG senior vice president for sales marketing and commercial, David Hughes, the IHG website receives more than 7.5 million visitors each month.
