In-flight betting for Ryanair?
Ryanair is reportedly considering the introduction of in-flight gambling, claiming that such a move could lead to free flights for passengers. The Daily Mail quotes the carrier’s boss Michael O’Leary as saying: “Just as hotels in Las Vegas give out free rooms to encourage gambling in their casinos, we could give out free flights.” While the plan to introduce an in-flight gambling facility is still at its early stages, with the biggest problem being the technology required to take instant credit card payments at 30,000 feet, the newspaper states that O’Leary is “ebullient” over the plan and has rejected suggestions that national governments could reject the proposal. He reportedly “grinned”: “We’re beating gambling operators back from the door. I don’t know who could stop us. We’ll be over international waters and international airspace.” Report by Tim Gillett, News From Abroad Ltd
