In-flight entertainment for Air Malta
Feature films, light entertainment shows and documentaries are to be shown on Air Malta flights
The airline is introducing in-flight entertainment from August 1 as part of an outsourcing contract which will provide estimated savings of more than $740,000 a year.
Air Malta will also offer a new in-flight magazine as part of the in-flight service package on its fleet of 13 aircraft.
Malta’s investment, industry and IT minister Dr Austin Gatt said: “With this initiative we are enhancing the services to Air Malta’s clients in a time where it is becoming increasingly difficult to operate an airline.
“These initiatives will lead to a cost reduction and additional revenue for Air Malta that amounts to over $2 million. This is another step in the company endeavours to increase efficiency and reduce costs.”
Air Malta chairman Lawrence Zammit said: “This is a first for the airline which has throughout these last years invested heavily in its brand new Airbus aircraft fleet equipped with the IFE systems.
“This is good news for our 1.8 million customers who every year choose Air Malta as their airline. Through this new product Air Malta will be offering an enhanced level of in-flight service which will be the best in-flight entertainment on the Malta route while at the same time saving the airline (through cost savings and revenue generation) approximately $741,000 annually.”
