Inbound operators happy with Olympic opening ceremony
The Olympic opening ceremony has won the approval of inbound tour operators to the UK.
UKinbound chief executive Mary Rance said the spectacular had successfully "reignited feelings of excitement and enthusiasm" for Great Britain as a destination.
The Isles of Wonder, created by director Danny Boyle, took Britain from its rural beginnings to the innovation of the industrial revolution and encompassed music, literature, film and TV.
"The opening ceremony was always going to be a great opportunity to showcase what we are all most proud of in Britain," she said.
"I think it’s safe to say that the spectacular show far exceeded all expectations and was warmly received not only by the 60,000-plus audience in the Olympic stadium, but by the one billion more watching around the world."
* What did you think of the Olympic opening ceremony? Do you think it will boost inbound tourism to Britain? Did it successfully showcase the Best of British?
