INDABA cuts back showtime, but not quality

Saturday, 15 Nov, 2012 0

South African Tourism is giving Africa’s flagship travel and tourism trade show, INDABA, a revamp following extensive consultation with tourism industry stakeholders.

The tourism showcase will be shortened from four to three days next year.

While INDABA 2012 saw a decline in the number of buyers and visitors, Thulani Nzima, chief executive, South African Tourism, said, "INDABA undoubtedly remains the tourism industry’s premier business networking event and will remain one of the most exciting travel trade shows on the annual tourism business calendar.

"INDABA is not about breaking attendance records, but is focusing on attracting quality buyers, exhibitors and visitors."

The 2013 event will again see popular speed marketing sessions, focusing on South Africa’s tourism offerings in the fields of responsible and sustainable tourism; adventure tourism; and culture and heritage tourism.

INDABA 2013 will be held from May 11-13. For more information and registration, visit www.indaba-southafrica.co.za.
