Maiden Voyage replicates and pays fitting tribute to RMS Titanic maiden voyage.

The Independence of the Seas made a triumphant arrival at Cobh (Queenstown), Ireland as part of its maiden voyage with paying passengers on board, the local fire boats turned out in salute and what seemed the entire population of Ireland waved to the ship from every available vantage point. Local sources suggest that more than 300,000 people lined the streets and hillside roads surrounding this first commercial port of call On board geusts were treated to superlative levels of service and what the Cruise Director Ken suggested was a seven days activity program completed in four days. The first public performance of stage production Centre Stage was perfomed to critical acclaim and a series of standing ovations meanwhile the spectacular ice shows were equally well received. No one would havwe realised this was a maiden voyage, all the house systems and food production worked like clockwork, highly professional and equally highly polished. The innovative Deck five, four floor atrium covered Royal Promenade shopping mall and host to several cafe’s, wine bars and pubs provided tropical sunshine although the weather outside produced rain and fog..
