Independents honoured in Sawday’s awards
Sawday’s, the champion of independent and special places to stay, has launched its first awards to coincide with its 20th anniversary.
The awards celebrate the most unique and creative places from the company’s unusual membership, which consists of B&Bs, hotels, self-catering places, pubs, and glamping locations.
All 13 Sawday’s award winners have been selected by a panel of judges, Sawday’s experts and independent travel specialists.
The awards reflect the variety of places that Sawday’s champions, and recognise the individuals that give everything to ensure guests have a memorable and special experience.
Sawday’s was founded in 1994 by Alastair Sawday, who wanted to seek out special and independent places to stay in Europe.
Sawday’s produced its first guide to French B&Bs and now publishes guidebooks and online guides for UK, France, Spain, Portugal, Ireland and Italy.
The winners are:

· Self-Catering Winner – Le Clos des Capucins, The Loire
· Trailblazer of the Year – Walter at Inshriach, Highlands
· Special Place of the Year – Fingals, Devon
· Slow Food – Masseria ll Frantoio, Puglia
· Squeaky Green – Covert Cabins, Dordogne
· Pub of the Year – The Pheasant, Essex
· The Guests Choice Winner -The Gatehouse – Monmouth
· One of a Kind – The New Inn Brilley, Hereford
· Hotel of the Year – Langar Hall, Nottinghamshire
· Labour of Love – The Old Forge, Dorset
· Stonkingly Good Value – Manor House Farm, Staffordshire
· Penhein, Glamping Location of the Year – Monmouth
