India imposes new air travel guidelines
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has issued new guidelines for airports as airlines prepare for the resumption of domestic flights.
AAI standard operating procedures require that all passengers over 14 must download the Aarogya Setu contact tracing mobile app ahead of departure.
It will be verified at the gate and all travellers must don a mask and gloves.
"Passengers must compulsorily walk through thermal screening before entering the airport terminal building. Airport operators must make appropriate arrangement for the sanitisation of passengers’ baggage before entry into terminal building," the guidelines state.
All state and local governments must ensure sufficient availability of public transport and taxis at airports.
All passengers must check-in two hours before departure.
"All airports and air carriers are being informed to be ready for operations from May 25," civil aviation minister Hardeep Puri tweeted.
The flight restart will be conducted in a ‘calibrated manner’ the minister said, starting with flights between major Tier 1 cities and hubs.
