India put on ‘high alert’ following terror attacks
Mumbai, Delhi, Calcutta and other major cities in India are in a state of alert today following a series of terrorist attacks in Mumbai, the country's commercial capital, which left at least 21 people dead and 113 injured.
Three near-simultaneous explosions shook the city at the height of the rush hour at 7pm local time, according to reports by the BBC.
One of the explosions occurred in the Zaveri Bazaar, another in the Opera House District and a third in Dadar district.
At least 21 people are believed to have died and 113 others are wounded. Indian media have quoted the home ministry saying the explosions are a terrorist attack.
Nearly 170 people were killed in a series of terrorist attacks on Mumbai in November 2008.
