Indian hotel booking app RoomsTonite shuts down

Another India based hotel booking app bites the dust.

Bangalore based last minute booking service RoomsTonite has closed down operations weeks after Chennai-based Stayzilla announced it will cease trading.

RoomsTonite was founded in 2014 and offered last minute discounted deals in 275 cities.

In December 2015 the company announced $1.5 million in seed funding but that failed to materialize according to tech news site VCCircle.

The app hosted about 4,000 hotels and worked with other hotel aggregators such OYO Rooms, Treebo Hotels and ZO Rooms.

The company’s cash flow problems began last summer and ‘many employees were asked to leave in February with one month’s salary,’ Times of India reported citing an unnamed source.
