India’s Jalesh Cruises takes delivery of first ship
Indian cruise startup has taken delivery of its first cruise ship which will begin sailing next month.
It will operate the Pacific Jewel from P&O Australia after its drydock refurbishment in Singapore, and will be renamed to Karnika at a christening ceremony on April 19.
It is being refurbished to meet the needs of Indian guests with new dining outlets, spas and fitness facilities.
"Today marks an important day for the Indian cruise tourism industry with the acceptance of Jalesh Cruises’ first ship," said Jurgen Bailom, president and CEO of Zen Cruises.
Karnika begins short cruises between Mumbai and Goa next month and then heads to the Gulf for itineraries calling at Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, Muscat and Sir Ban Yas Island.
Following the dry dock work, it arrives in Mumbai from Singapore on April 17, via Colombo, Kochi and Goa.
