Indonesia’s tourism ministry taps MakeMyTrip to boost India market
Indonesia’s ministry of tourism has tapped MakeMyTrip to lure more Indian travellers to the archipelago.
A strategic agreement was signed which will result in campaigns across MakeMyTrip platforms and social media to promote Indonesia trips to Jakarta, Bali and beyond.
"We greatly look forward to working with the Ministry of Tourism of Republic of Indonesia to build the tourism momentum in the region. Indonesia, especially Bali, is among the top favourite international destinations among Indian travellers and this association will help us tap into the massive potential," said Rajesh Magow, co-founder India CEO of MakeMyTrip.
Nia Niscaya, Indonesia’s deputy minister of tourism marketing said: "We are delighted to further our partnership with MakeMyTrip, a leading player in the online travel segment, and are confident that this association will help us expand our reach in the Indian market.
She said the India inbound market has remained robust despite natural disasters afflicting both Bali and Lombok, firstly with the prolonged eruption of Mount Agung and the recent earthquakes in neighbouring Lombok.
Indonesia set a target of 700,000 visitors from India this year.
