Industry chiefs meet to discuss conservation of the Caribbean
The Center for Environmental Leadership in Business (CELB), a division of Conservation International, is to convene later this month key decision-makers who are influencing Caribbean tourism development to devise an action plan for conservation of the Caribbean
Making Biodiversity Work For Your Travel Business: Increasing Profitability While Protecting the Environment Industry will take place April 24-26 at the Punta Cana Club and Resort in the Dominican Republic.
Industry leaders will be joined by government officials, non-governmental organizations, scientists and local individuals to inspire leadership and launch solutions to environmental degradation and species loss.
The following individuals have been confirmed as keynote speakers: Hon. Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart, Chairman, Sandals Resorts and Air Jamaica; Dr. Jeffrey Sachs and Dr. Thomas Lovejoy, two world-renowned experts in environmental economics; Dr. Sylvia Earle, leading international expert in marine science and conservation; and Captain William S. Wright, Senior Vice President, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.
Co-conveners include the Center for Applied Biodiversity Science at Conservation International (CABS), the Center for Environmental Research and Conservation (CERC), the Punta Cana Ecological Foundation and the Punta Cana Resort and Club.
