Industry in India surprised by lack of understanding

DELHI – The last few weeks saw India go through a tumultuous phase. What happened in Mumbai may never be erased from people’s memories, but the overwhelming messages of support will only make sharing the pain easier.
Colleagues and competitors from all over the world wrote in response to our updates on the Mumbai events.
Hundreds of mails were received and that gave us the assurance that India will emerge strong from the horrors that had enveloped us.
To all of you, thank you for standing by our land.

Having said this, we as an industry are extremely surprised though at the types of cancellations we received across the segments.
Some were genuine and understood, but a lot others showed a lack of awareness or understanding of how large India is and what a journey to this country means.

Over the weeks and months you will see a more aggressive India emerge to bring you and your clients back to experience what is one of the most rewarding travel destinations.
