Inghams’ parent still on acquisition trail
Inghams’ parent Hotelplan is looking for other acquisition opportunities after buying adventure tour operator Explore Worldwide late last year.
Group head of purchasing Harvey Gahl said the company was looking to buy other operators to which it could add value.
Hotelplan also owns family ski specialist Esprit, chalet specialist Ski Total and activity tours operator Inntravel. It bought Explore and sister brand Regaldive from Cox & Kings last November.
"It’s been an exciting six months," said Gahl, "we were working on the Explore deal for a while, it’s a very successful business and has a very good team in place.
"The acquisition came off the back of a very good year for Hotelplan UK, it was our best ever, and Andy Perrin (CEO) had been on the lookout for a good company since he came in five years ago."
Gahl said the company wasn’t talking to any potential vendors ‘right now’, but added: "We are always on the lookout for a business where we can add value."
He didn’t say what type of operator Hotelplan was interested in buying, but the company doesn’t have a mainstream summer beach brand so this might be a possibility to counterbalance its strong winter programme.
