InterContinental launches new mid-market hotel brand
InterContinental Hotels Group’s new mid-market brand will be called Avid Hotels and will offer rooms at slightly less than its Holiday Inn Express brand.
IHG plans to begin construction of its first Avid Hotel early next year, with the first expected to open in 2019.
The brand’s prototype design includes a minimum of three floors with 95 to 100 rooms.
Rates are expected to be about $10 to $15 less than at Holiday Inn Express.
The guest rooms will have work areas, storage space and televisions that allow guests to stream shows~directly from their own portable devices.
Wifi will be available throughout the hotel and Avid Hotels guests will be able to use~IHG’s rewards club.
IHG said more than 150 hotel owners had already expressed interest in creating Avid Hotels franchises, for which it is charging a 5% royalty fee, with a discount for the first 100 to sign up.
