International association meetings on the upswing, survey says
A new survey of international association meeting planners shows a positive trend for next year’s meetings business.
In the survey of 92 international association buyers, almost a third (32%) said attendance at their events grew this year, and almost 30% said they will be running more meetings next year (a 50% increase over the 22% who said that last year).
Almost 47% are projecting higher attendances than in previous year (vs. 40% in 2012).
Less than 7% expect to hold fewer meetings next year than they did this year.
The survey was carried out by the International Congress and Convention Association and the IMEX Group at the recent IMEX trade show in Frankfurt.
This trend confirmed earlier data in the 2012 ICCA rankings for cities and countries, when ICCA reported another year of continued strength in the international association meetings market.
