International bookings power Expedia growth
Growth in international bookings helped boost profits at Expedia in the second quarter of the year.
The online travel giant saw net profits rise 51% to $73.4 million against $48.5 million in the same period last year.
Overall bookings rose by 26%, with international bookings up 73% compared with bookings from its US domestic market rising by a more modest 17%, according to Reuters.
Expedia’s revenue was up 14% from $487 million to $555 million in the three months.
The online company’s parent InterActive Corp – which is to spin off Expedia as a stand-alone business next week – reported a profit of more than $618 million.
