Internet complexity driving travel agent demand
If you wonder why some studies are showing agents are regaining some of the ground they lost in recent years to the Internet, consider the growing complexity of online travel.
“Booking travel online has become so complex that increasing numbers of people are turning to professionals for help. And the savvy they provide often outweighs their modest charges,” says Newsday.
Only rarely do travel agents have access to deals you can’t find for yourself.
On the other hand, they can almost always find any deal you can find and they can add extra value to the mix, the newspaper says.
Agents expertise in finding the best deals is the No. 1 reason they are getting more popular, the newspaper says.
But agents are also helpful to time-stressed travelers and for more complicated deals such as international flights.
Finally, agents can be very helpful when things go wrong.
