Intrepid cancels Egypt trips
Intrepid Travel in Australia has cancelled trips to Egypt and amended some itineraries in response to the ongoing civil unrest in the country.
In a statement, Intrepid said that the move follows the reported demonstrations in Cairo and other locations in Egypt, "and takes into account current government travel advice".
"We have been liaising with our local operations team to ensure the safety of our passengers currently travelling or due to travel on trips to Egypt very shortly.
"We have therefore decided in the interests of our passengers’ safety to cancel a selection of trips due to depart before July 8 and to amend some itineraries currently in operation," Intrepid said.
Passengers affected are being contacted "and we are working to provide suitable alternatives or a full refund of ground trip costs", the company said.
Intrepid added: "The safety of our passengers, leaders and operators remains our top priority and we will continue to monitor the situation in Egypt closely with our local office in Cairo."
