Intrepid Travel to open its own branded hotels

Intrepid Travel is going into the hotel business. Along with partner the Drifter Hospitality Group, Intrepid will raise $75 million to buy distressed hotel properties. The small group tour operator plans to snap up struggling hotels and convert them to the ‘Drifter – an Intrepid Hotel’ brand.
Drifter has a small portfolio of properties in New Zealand. Intrepid has a stake in Drifter’s tourism and accommodation operator Haka Tours, which manages its hotels.
