Ireland Media awards announced
Tourism Ireland announced the two winners of its media awards at their St Patrick’s Day lunch at Aria Restaurant on Thursday, 13th March 2008.
The two winners were:
** Best magazine article written about Ireland (March 07-March 08) : Amanda Hooton for her article published in Travel+Leisure “Pack up your troublesâ€
** Best newspaper article written about Ireland (March 07-March 08) : Jane. E. Fraser for her article published in the Courier Mail “Cool time to see Irelandâ€
Co-founder of Lonely Planet and Belfast native Maureen Wheeler presented each writer with their prize of $1,000 plus an exquisite piece of Waterford Crystal kindly donated by Waterford Crystal who is a co-sponsor of the awards.
Also, present at the event was Dublin-based Paul O’Toole, CEO of Tourism Ireland who thanked the Australian media for their contribution to Ireland’s success in continuing to attract large numbers of Australians to Ireland each year.
Orla Saul, Manager of the Tourism Ireland in Australia remarked that ‘The media awards are an important acknowledgement of the wonderful support we get from the Australian media and we are very grateful for the fantastic coverage each year’.
The Mole will be be encouraging Tourism Ireland, normally recognised for is very positive on line and trade media acttivity to introduce trade and on line categories in future years.
