Island Air adding summer services to Maui, Kauai
Hawaiian carrier Island Air is adding six more flights to Maui and Kauai to boost summer schedules and meet peak season demand.
The airline said the new flights will operate Thursday through Sunday and will run initially until August 17.
Island Air operate a fleet of 64-seater ATR-72 turboprop aircraft.
The added frequencies will bring the number of flights from Honolulu to Kahulu airport, Maui to 22 a week and a total of 14 to Kauai.
"With fares as low as $65, we’re seeing an increase in customers" said Island Air CEO Paul Casey.
"Island Air is bringing back value and convenience for travel interisland," he said.
It follows last week’s announcement of added flights from Hawaiian Airlines’ interisland subsidiary Ohana by Hawaiian to other islands during the summer.
Ohana said it would add one extra flight each to Kahului, Maui, and Molokai and two more between Kahului and Kona.
