Italy PM: Climate change a factor in deadly avalanche
Rescue crews resumed searching for 13 missing hikers on the Italian Dolomites highest peak. A mountain glacier collapsed, killing seven people but search operations were hampered by bad weather on Monday at the Marmolada mountain.
Eight others were injured with two in a serious condition.
Scientists said climate change has made the glaciers more unstable, and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi agreed environmental factors were partly to blame for the disaster.
“This is the first such accident in the history of the mountain,” rescue coordinate Gino Comelli said.
