Independent Italy specialist operator Cottages to Castles is to run its first agent educational trips.

Three trips to Tuscany in are planned for April and May with invitations going out to selected travel agents.

The day trips will cover many of the operator’s properties in the Chianti area between Florence, Siena and Pisa. A wine-tasting at a Chianti farm and the sampling of local Tuscan food will be included.

The trips will also show agents how convenient a short stay in a villa or apartment can be.

The company’s sales manager Gerry Smith said: “We’ve never done agent educationals before but with our retail bookings running at around 67% up on the same time last year, we felt that now is the time. It’s further proof of how committed we are to the retail trade.

“We are repositioning ourselves as the number one alternative to Citalia and Magic of Italy.”

The operator offers more than 350 rental properties in 13 regions of Italy and pays 15% commission on self-catering and hotel bookings.
