It’s a dog’s life for guests in French hotel
Canines to get spring vegetables, designer blankets and doggy perfume
One of France’s most famous luxury hotels has come up with a novel way of attracting guests – by providing designer dog dinners for those who cannot bear to leave their pooches at home.
According to a report in The Guardian, the sumptuous Trianon Palace, in Versailles, will offer meals such as poached Queen’s Hambone with spring vegetables and low-fat yoghurt, along with fish and vegetarian alternatives. The newspaper reports that canines will also be treated to a designer basket to sleep in, a “haute couture” blanket and matching bowls.
There will also be an agility course in the grounds (for the dogs rather than their owners), and doggy-goodies including cleansing wipes, special dog shampoo and a perfume called Oh My Dog will be left on a table next to the afore-mentioned basket.
A spokesman reportedly told the newspaper: “We realised a lot of our guests like to travel with their pets, so we decided to do something in keeping with our name and reputation, without getting altogether too absurd.”
Perhaps that was a reference to the nearby Crillon Hotel, which is reportedly offering doggy guests a medal inscribed with their name, a buffalo-hide bone to chew on, and – wait for it – the services of a bilingual vet.
