Japan Airlines is preparing to unveil its JAL Sky Recliner seat later this month, a kind of high-tech sofa chair with touch screen entertainment controls and the ability to play your Ipod.
The airline will launch the seat shortly after it takes delivery of four Boeing 767-300ER aircraft this month.
The new planes also offer passengers the airline’s entertainment system the MAGI V which offers touch screen function and a hosting system for personal electronic devices.
The seats, which will have removable armrests, a 51 ins pitch, a recline of 132 degrees and privacy partitions, will be configured in a 2-2-2 layout.
Ten inch TV monitors, new video input capability, a USB port and electrical power outlet complete the facilities, meaning passengers can view their own videos and photographs.
The Boeing 767-300ER craft with Sky Recliners will be used initially on Singapore and Beijing routes.
